Has It Been Six Months?

Has It Been Six Months?

I just realized I haven’t written a blog post in six months!  The time has come to renew my domain if I choose to do so. While contemplating my decision, I decided to roam around my site and read a few past posts. This journey started for me back in 2018, and so much has happened in these six years. Reading through past posts have brought back so many memories, good and bad. So, of course I will renew my domain. I just can’t let this go, even if my posts are now few and far between.

That being said…what has happened since my last post back in September?

For starters, the interior remodel of our “new” house is finished…almost.  Here are a few before and after pictures!

I can honestly say I am in love with this place. We aren’t fancy but we are comfortable, and even my cats are happy in the new place!  We have one bedroom left to finish, plus a few interior doors. After this we will start doing a bit of work to the outside.

People have asked me why I didn’t just buy a new house.  I don’t want a NEW house. I want a house with character, a house with a story. We have new exterior doors on the house, but kept the old screen doors. When I hear the front screen door creaking and sometimes slamming, it brings a smile to my face. How many kids and grandkids have opened up that creaky door through the years? Frankly, it also brings memories of the screen door at my childhood home. Good, good memories of a time gone by.

In other news, I have returned to my old job after two years away.  The idea of early retirement sounded good at the time, but I didn’t enjoy myself nearly as much as I thought I would. I missed my coworkers. I missed my clients. I missed my sense of purpose. I missed my health insurance, ha!

We didn’t travel a lot like I thought we would. Sitting home day after day was not helping my mental health. I do still intend to travel quite a bit, but I’ll plan my vacations around it.  I’m happy to be back at work, but let me tell you I can sure feel it! Even though I have a desk job, I’ve been so stiff and sore at the end of the day.  My body has been used to sitting in a recliner watching Hoarders and taking daily afternoon snoozes, and it continues to ask me what the heck I’m doing to it!

Hopefully I’ll be posting more often than twice a year. I’m setting a goal for once a month. Here we go!
