The Clueless RV Club
My childhood revolved around camping trips to the lake. The closest lake to my hometown was about an hour away. My parents had two couples that were their best lake buddies and I can’t remember a time that we camped without them. We would load up the campers and head out for the drive to the lake. This was back in the 70’s, so life wasn’t quite as complicated then. About halfway to Lake Wilson, we would pull over in an empty dirt parking lot at the side of the road. The folks called this the “beer stop”. We would get out to stretch our legs, and the adults would down a quick can of beer before loading back up for the remainder of the trip. GASP!! The memories of those weekends at Lake Wilson will forever be in my heart.
I now live in a town with a large lake just outside the city limits. This has been great, because even though we haven’t done a whole lot of camping, my kids have grown up enjoying the lake, especially in the summer. But this summer will be different because……
WE BOUGHT A CAMPER!!!
Or, as cousin Eddie (National Lampoon’s Vacation) would say “We got ourselves a PRIME recreational vehicle”!! My older sister and I have missed camping and decided we need to start taking advantage of our hometown State Park, so we went in together to purchase an older RV from a friend. We have never camped in a motor home, this is unchartered territory. I will be documenting our first camping trip tomorrow with pictures and I have a feeling we’ll be hearing a few of those curse words as my husband and I attempt to figure out how to hook up to utilities. Thank God for You Tube! Here’s a picture of our 1988 Itasca Sundancer that I took last week (hey it looks like it was beautiful back in its prime)! 😊😊
