Old Fashioned Chocolate Sheet Cake

Old Fashioned Chocolate Sheet Cake

For Christmas 1996, my mother sat down and made a hand written cookbook of her recipes for each of her children.  She passed away in 2011, and I am so thankful that she gave us those special gifts.  Each time I make a recipe from the book, I feel like mom is with me.

This is her recipe for Old Fashioned Chocolate Sheet Cake, with just a couple of small changes.

A Little Back Story On the Cake..

Our family has always loved to camp. One thing we could always count on was a big old chocolate sheet cake made by my mom. Even as I camped with my own family as an adult, she would come out to the lake to pay us a visit..sheet cake in hand.

Times have changed, and mom has been gone for almost eight years. Her recipe for sheet cake still remains, and as long as I’m around there will be a sheet cake on our camping trips!

Old Fashioned Chocolate Sheet Cake

This recipe for chocolate sheet cake has been passed down through the generations in our family.  The sweet homemade icing poured directly over warm cake straight from the oven makes this "melt in your mouth" delicious!
